Bobby Brewster’s Rooster

Bobby Brewster’s rooster
Scratched at the corn
And when the grain was eaten
Sought something vermiform.

The next morning that cock
Didn’t want to crow
So he hid up in the rafters
When it was time for his big show.

Bobby Brewster overslept
Thanks to the chicken’s selfish plan
Which sped the rooster to his fate
In the supper frying pan.

Limericks for Librarians

Ever since the adoption of MARC
Machines are no more in the dark.
When you do a search
They don’t shudder or lurch
But instead take a walk in the PARC.

With AACR2
Librarians know just what to do.
Why, even a jerk
Can take a new work
And catalog it sans hullaballoo.

Bibliographic control proven lacking,
The Dublin Core got ever more backing.
Well-formed metadata
Will sooner or later
Send the Web’s disorder packing.

(Clerihews are so much easier.)

Bibliographic Clerihews

Father of the art, Anthony Panizzi
Was an Italian political refugee, see,
Who catalogued works in the British Museum
So folks could more easily see ‘em.

Some may’ve thought old Charles Cutter
Came off as a bit of a nutter
When he said a collocating device
Would actually be rather nice.

Pioneering Melvil Dewey
Was actually a little bit screwy.
When LC suggested his classes were lacking
He scoffed and sent them packing.
